Proverbs 1:2 - To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

If you recall from the Second Book of the Chronicles—after Solomon had his kingdom established, it was Solomon’s single request from God, on the high place at Gibeon, to receive wisdom and knowledge to judge God’s great people. This was very pleasing to the Lord because the request was not for vanity, such as the request for riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of thy enemies, neither yet hast asked long life. Now, look at what God did for Solomon. Since Solomon’s request was simply for wisdom and knowledge, God gave him such and, in addition, blessed him abundantly beyond his request. God told Solomon, “Wisdom and knowledge are granted to thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.” These proverbs are tokens of this wisdom and knowledge given to Solomon. Remember, the fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom. There are many blessings that come from God’s wisdom and knowledge given to His people.
